So, the semester has finally started back and already, I have a project in the works. For my first endeavor, I decided to make a series of scarves using different, but related weave structures and then over dye them using different resists from the kitchen. "Quilting Arts" has been running a series of articles on using different household food items to create different effects on fabric. They are really fascinating, so I want to try them all out.
The first scarf that I create will be over dyed using oatmeal as a resist. Lisa Kerpoe, the author of the "Quilting Arts" articles featured these images on their website:

My materials: I died my warp a pale purple using an equal combination of basic blue and scarlet MX dyes. (I plan on over dying the scarf with a similar combination of dyes). I will use the dark purple thread as my pattern pick and the light purple sewing thread as the pick of tabby between the patterns.
