It's been quite some time since I have posted.
It wasn't intentional really. I spent the latter half of May and the month of June working really hard, trying to produce some work and just have a productive summer. And then July 4th came and I just lost any sense of motivation that I had to do anything. Basically, I just sat on my couch and did nothing for the rest of the summer.
And then school started back and I have been crazy busy ever since. Aside from the week of work that I missed because of Hurricane Matthew, I feel like I haven't had a chance to breathe since late August. But I realized the other day that I really need to get off my butt and do something productive.
I hate having these spells of virtual laziness.
So, I am not going to make the goal that I set for myself of 12 works of art completed this year. I'd basically have to do one a week from now until the New Year's to get that done. So, one thing I planned to accomplish this year is not going to get done. Another that is not going happen is a new car. I know that it completely irrelevant, but out of the two big things I wanted to purchase this year, it just isn't going to happen. It seems like it is never going to happen, and that is entirely frustrating. Especially since it looks like I might be driving myself to work a lot more. The amount I am about to spend on fuel is going to skyrocket in my gas guzzler. Seriously, I've contemplated starting a Kickstarter so I can afford a down payment.
But, on a positive note, I did manage to get a loom, which is was one of my goals for the year. I got it for free, which was even more awesome. The loom was purchased at an auction at Penland and has just been sitting in pieces. I was told I could have it if I was willing to put it together, no instructions, no nothing. And I did it! It wasn't too difficult, but it took me a while to figure out how the harnesses attach and I have some extra pieces that I'm not sure where to put (if they even go to the loom, which they might not). It's kind of cool though because, during my research, it looks like it either is, or is based on, Craft Revival style looms. I'm excited to get to using it, but I have no idea what to weave first!
Hopefully, more frequent updates will be coming in the weeks ahead. I want to start working on sprucing up this site as well, so be on the lookout!
