Well, I can honestly say that I spent my entire Thanksgiving break doing absolutely nothing.
It was my intention to actually get some stuff done. There is some sewing and weaving that I need to do, but I just could not find the motivation to do it. And even if I had the motivation, I would not have been home very much to do it.
I did spend some time reading this past break, however. Last payday, I bought "Empire of Cotton" by Sven Beckert and I could not put it down over. It was just so interesting, and it wasn't even information that was new to me. What I suppose was so interesting was that it helped me make connections between things that I new: things that I never thought of before. For instance, the relationship between cotton cultivation and the slave trade. Not only was slave labor the driving force behind cotton growing, but it also facilitated the slave trade because African traders wanted to be paid in cotton textiles. Interesting stuff. I'm not quite finished with the book yet (I have about 100 pages to go), but I would definitely highly recommend it.
Hopefully this week I can find that motivation to get things done.
